I came across
this very interesting article on BusinessWeek about how Facebook is expanding, and what they are doing in order to supposedly de-throne the current advertising juggernaut - Google. It makes a very good discussion on what should and should not be considered right in the online advertising world. Do you think it's right for Facebook to profit off your personal information and your friends? Also, where do you see the future in Facebook's advertising plans, and how do you feel about it?
We all use Facebook. It's important to know these things :)
Hopefully I can avoid joining Facebook as long as possible. Unfortunately, I am only forestalling the inevitable.

I have to admit, that Facebook's advertising plans are an advertiser's dream come true. With that being said, is it right for them to do that? Probably not.
ReplyDeleteIt's baby steps. You won't see pictures of your friends using products with a caption saying "look, so-and-so is using the new **gizmo**, you should too!" tomorrow, but once we're used to smaller, less obnoxious things that used to offend us, maybe they will slowly pile it on. Will we take it?
ReplyDeleteLike Michael, I've avoided using Facebook. I never felt compelled to use it. I frequently keep in contact with my close friends by using a cell phone or email.
